Filip Chytil Goes Down After 'Questionable' Play From Tom Wilson: Fans and Analysts are Concerned
The Vancouver Canucks lost Filip Chytil, who went to the dressing room after he was the target of a heavy hit from Washington Capitals Tom Wilson, who wasn't penalized on the play.
The Vancouver Canucks may have beaten the Washington Capitals 4-3 today in Washington DC, but it came at a cost.
The Canucks lost forward Filip Chytil after he was the victim of a massive hit from Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson, who has been
known throughout his career for playing on the edge and who has also been suspended and fined multiple times.
But in this instance, Wilson wasn't penalized for what many Canucks fans felt should have been at the very least a two-minute minor.
Wilson was initially penalized, but after a conference by the on-ice officials for a video review, the penalty was taken off the board and it was ruled a good hockey hit.
Some would argue that Chytil should have been paying closer attention rather than admiring his pass, and others could argue that Wilson doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt given his history.
Filip Chytil Did Not Return After Tom Wilson Hit
It wouldn't be long before the Canucks would rule out Chytil for the rest of the game, which they won 4-3.
The incident took place with 40 seconds left in the 1st period.
Chytil, who was acquired by the Canucks last year in the major JT Miller trade from the New York Rangers, already has 3 goals in his first 6 games of the year. It would be a considerable blow to their offense if he were to miss extended time.
