Elliotte Friedman confirms Elias Lindholm's fate with the Vancouver Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks and GM Patrick Allvin moved for star forward Elias Lindholm during the middle of the 2023-24 season and today insider Elliotte Friedman shared if they could keep him.
During the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Vancouver Canucks were a heavily depleted team. They were without their all-star goaltender Thatcher Demko and star centerman Elias Pettersson was reportedly struggling with a knee injury during the playoffs.
One player that stepped up for them massively was Elias Lindholm who had five goals and 10 points in the Canucks run to the second round where they ultimately fell short to the Edmonton Oilers who are currently competing for the Stanley Cup.
Today insider Elliotte Friedman shared that it looks like the Canucks will not be able to retain Lindholm's services and he is likely to hit unrestricted free agency.
Elliotte Friedman: We talked about how Canucks were willing to go 7 times 7 for Lindholm. It doesn't look like that's going to happen. So, Canucks are looking at this like we probably can't keep Lindholm, what is our next option?
The Canucks still have a wealth of star power at center even if/when they lose Lindholm as both JT Miller and the aforementioned Pettersson are capable of playing down the middle.
Free agency is set to begin in just about three weeks so we will need to be on the lookout for Lindholm and see where he winds up landing, assuming it is not Vancouver.
