Prospects open up on weird questions from NHL teams during 2024 Combine
Prospects opened up on some of the weird questions they received from NHL teams at interviews during the 2024 Combine in Buffalo.
It became a tradition to hear about teams going far in their interviews at the combine. As they prepare to choose the players who'll be a part of the future of their organization at the draft, teams want to make sure they get the best player available. In order to do so, they want to know them as much as possible, explaining the thorough interview process.
Once again this year, a few prospects revealed some of the questions that they had to answer in their interviews, and it's not surprising to learn that some of them are way out there.
First-round prospect Zayne Parekh said that a team asked what his Snapchat score and Uber rating were:
"Prospects won't say who, but a team has asked what a prospect's Snapchat score was and what their Uber rating was."
Cole Hutson said that the Montreal Canadiens asked him what animal they could identify with:
"I picked a narwhalbecause they're rare and one of a kind like me"
The Colorado Avalanche played board games with prospects:
"New weird draft combine story
The Colorado Avalanche had prospects play board games in their interviews
Confirmed by both Leon Muggli and Jack Berglund" The Nashville Predators asked prospects what they would do if they were drafted in the war:
"Combine question: If you were drafted into the war, would you be a sniper, pilot, or medic? I'll let you guess the team. Will share later."
It's great to see teams trying to revamp their interviews with these methods. However, with all 32 teams doing so, concerns emerged about how prospects were truly themselves in such interviews.
