Just days before the trade deadline, Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser has emerged as a potential trade candidate per a report from NHL analyst Darren Dreger amidst their truly miserable year.
Nothing has gone right for the Vancouver Canucks this year, who are the worst team in the Western Conference and have already made two major moves.
They traded captain and former Norris Trophy winning defenseman Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild in December, and then followed that up with a trade of Kiefer Sherwood to the divisional foe San Jose Sharks.
There are still multiple other players who are involved in trade rumours, including Elias Pettersson, Jake DeBrusk and Conor Garland.
But now, per a new report from NHL analyst Darren Dreger, Brock Boeser could be included in a trade before long despite having just re-signed to a new contract.
Dreger: Does Boeser want to spend the next 2-3 years in a rebuild in Vancouver? No. He's not eager to be traded but if the right fit is there of course he would consider it. - Taj
So far this year, Boeser has 26 points (12G, 14A) in 51 games played.
Brock Boeser Avoided Free Agency By Re-Signing With The Canucks
Boeser could have become a high-priced UFA last summer, but instead chose to remain with the Canucks by signing a contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $7.25 million after GM Patrik Allvin called him a "huge" part of the team.
Brock has been a huge part of our organization, and we are extremely happy to have him back in the fold. He has scored some big goals for our hockey club and has established himself as a very dangerous offensive player. Brock is a leader and culture setter in our locker room, and we're confident he will continue to play an important role for our team moving forward doing great work both on and off the ice. - Patrik Allvin
But now, it looks like he could be traded not even a full year into that deal.
