Pittsburgh Penguins analyst Josh Yohe has revealed the timeline for discussions regarding the future of future Hall of Famer Evgeni Malkin with the franchise, the only team he's ever played for.

There has been plenty made about the potential of a trade of Pittsburgh Penguins icon Evgeni Malkin, who is playing in the last year of his current contract.
Another thought is that he could consider retirement.
But Malkin and the Penguins have had a much better season than most fans and analysts ever would have guessed coming into 2025-26, and they would make the playoffs if they began right now.
But there is still the matter of Malkin's future with the team, considering he can be a UFA on July 1.
Per a new report from Penguins analyst Josh Yohe, there won't be a decision made about Malkin's future in Pittsburgh by GM Kyle Dubas until after this season comes to an end for them.

So far this year, Malkin has 46 points (13G, 33A) in 43 games played.

Earlier This Year, Evgeni Malkin Said He Doesn't Want To Play Anywhere Else In The NHL

Malkin has repeatedly said that he has no interest in wearing the sweater of another NHL team other than the Penguins, with whom he has won three Stanley Cups.
Taken with the second overall pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Penguins, one pick behind his fellow Russian Alex Ovechkin of the divisional foe Washington Capitals, Malkin became one of the best players in Penguins history and won multiple awards over the course of his career.
So far in 1,255 career games, all with Pittsburgh, Malkin has 1,392 points (527G, 865A).
