Per a new report from NHL analyst Nick Kypreos, the Pittsburgh Penguins have a plan in place for veteran Evgeni Malkin as the Trade Deadline begins to get closer.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are in the midst of a hot streak, having won their last five games in a row after what was a rough December, during which they set a new unfortunate team record for worst home stand in team history.
But there's no guarantee that the Penguins will be able to keep up their momentum, and there are still a handful of players who continue to have their names pop up in trade rumours.
One player who was constantly in trade rumours leading up to the season was veteran Evgeni Malkin, who was taken by the Penguins with the second pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and has played his entire career in a Penguins sweater.
Per a new report from NHL analyst Nick Kypreos, there could be a reunion with ex-Penguins teammate Bill Guerin, who is now the GM of the Minnesota Wild, if Malkin decides to allow a trade.
There are teams that would dearly love to land Evgeni Malkin, though he's in full control of the situation with a no-movement clause in the final season of his contract. There's talk of Minnesota GM Bill Guerin laying low in the weeds looking to make another significant trade, and wondering if Russian Kirill Kaprizov can help convince Malkin to join the Wild for a playoff run. If Malkin allows it, expect him to move before the trade deadline. - Nick Kypreos

So far this year, Malkin has missed several games but has 29 points (8G, 21A) in 26 games.

Evgeni Malkin Wants To Remain With The Penguins

Malkin knows that he's the subject of trade rumours, but has repeatedly stated his preference to remain with the only NHL club he's ever played for.
One of the best players in team history, Malkin has helped the Penguins win three Stanley Cups and also won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2009 as playoff MVP.
He's in the last year of his contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $6.1 million.
