TSN analyst Dave Feschuk blasted the performance of Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews this season, saying he's being carried by his teammates.

Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews is barely two years removed from scoring 69 goals, but his offense has taken a continued downward turn that continues to this day.
Last year, he scored 33 goals in 67 games, and he missed multiple games because of an injury that he even sought treatment for in Germany.
So far this year, he has 14 goals and is on pace for 32. Matthews has gotten plenty of criticism for how he's played, and there have been questions raised about his passion for the game.
During a recent segment on TSN's Overdrive, analyst Dave Feschuk said he believes that Matthews is being carried by the rest of his teammates.
You have to have confidence that your guy, your number one guy, has another gear. That your number one guy can carry the team if need be. Because no matter who the coach is, guess what? In this league, sometimes your number one guy has to carry it. And for the Maple Leafs, I think this the number one issue of the season.

He's being carried by teammates who are having better years than him....I think the general manager, the coach, and everybody else around this team would also say if they were being honest, with a little truth serum, a little eggnog and rum into the system, that, 'Hey, what do you expect us to do if our best guy, our highest paid guy, is essentially playing like he's just another guy?' - Dave Feschuk

Auston Matthews Is In His Second Year As Maple Leafs Captain

Before the start of last season, John Tavares ceded the captaincy to Matthews, a move that many fans and analysts initially questioned.
Matthews and the Maple Leafs were once again eliminated in a postseason Game 7, this time against the divisional foe Florida Panthers, who went on to win their second straight Stanley Cup.
So far this season, the Leafs have already been forced into making a change behind the bench with the dismissal of Marc Savard.
