Maple Leafs analyst believes Craig Berube is 'furious' over Marc Savard firing

Analyst Aaron Korolnek recently on First Up alongside fellow analyst Carlo Colaiacovo said that he believes Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube isn't happy with the firing of Marc Savard as his assistant coach yesterday.
The Toronto Maple Leafs made a major change in leadership behind their bench yesterday, announcing that assistant coach Marc Savard was let go.
Savard, who was hired to serve on Craig Berube's staff in the summer of 2024, was responsible for running the Maple Leafs' power play, which was ranked dead last in the NHL.
Even without Mitch Marner, the Maple Leafs have too much star power to allow that to continue, and a change was made. But how does Craig Berube feel about it?
During today's episode of "First Up", analyst Aaron Korolnek said that he thinks Berube is "furious" with the move.
I could tell you one person that is absolutely furious about this move, and that's Craig Berube. Because Craig Berube brought in Marc Savard when he was hired. It's his boy, and now he's gotta walk into that dressing room today and look everybody in the face and say, 'You're the reason why one of my good friends and the guy that I hired is not here anymore.'

The Maple Leafs Fired Assistant Coach Marc Savard Yesterday
Savard, who had already been an assistant coach with the Calgary Flames as well as coaching in the OHL, was hired to be an assistant on Berube's staff when the latter was hired in 2024.
Last year, the Leafs PP ranked ninth overall at 24.8%, but they are languishing this year at just 13.3%.
