When Brad Treliving arrived in Toronto, hopes were high, but with the team on the cusp of a missed post-season, it appears his time with the Maple Leafs may be over.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been a very good team for the longest time, but after failing to go deep in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a decade, things have officially fallen apart in 2025/26.
Right now, the team are in seventh place in the Atlantic Division, and with 10 points separating them and the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, many have accepted that they likely won't make the post-season this year.
While that puts pressure on people in the coaching staff and the front office, no one is on a hotter seat than Brad Treliving, who was a high-profile pickup from the Calgary Flames when the Maple Leafs landed him in the summer of 2023.

Toronto seemingly make major call on Treliving's future

As of right now, Treliving is under contract until the end of the 2026/27 season, but during a recent Leafs Report podcast, James Mirtle and Jonas Siegel chatted about his future, noting that the team likely won't enter the summer with him having just one year left on his deal.
On top of that, both agreed that the team likely won't want to sign him to a long-term extension as a General Manager, and while nothing is confirmed, that leads to just one possible outcome for the veteran GM.
Ultimately, during his time in Toronto, Treliving has made some terrible moves, and while there's been a few saving graces, with the team free falling in the standings and very few prospects and assets to look forward too, moving on from him would be the logical move at some point in the near future.
