The Maple Leafs have some big decisions to make this summer, and now, Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin is reportedly ready to capitalize in the trade market.

For much of the past decade, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been a dominant team, but unfortunately when it matters most in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, they've continued to fall short year after year.
That led to the departure of Mitch Marner this past summer, and now with the team sitting at 29-27-12 and in seventh place in the Atlantic Division, there could be some big changes coming in the summer.

Bill Guerin ready to capitalize on Toronto's desperation

As of right now, it's unclear exactly what moves the team will look to make, but with very few prospects coming through the organization, everything from a buying spree to a full breakdown of the team makes sense.
If it is to be the latter, one team that's paying close attention are the Minnesota Wild, with General Manager Bill Guerin reportedly ready to capitalize, especially after the relationship that both he and Quinn Hughes built with Team USA captain Auston Matthews throughout the Olympic break.
If the Maple Leafs wanted to blow things up, Matthews would be the perfect target, and with Minnesota having some significant assets left over following the Hughes trade and the deadline, they would be a perfect landing spot for No. 34.
Ultimately, it would make sense if Toronto wanted to move on from any of their top stars after they struggled this season with little help coming through the pipelines, and while the Wild are ready to take advantage of Brad Treliving in a desperate situation, as of right now, it's not likely to be the way the Maple Leafs take things.
