Sammy Blais was picked up by Toronto earlier this season following some injuries, but now, he's been waived once more as the team begins to get healthy.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been struggling mightily early this season, with their main source of struggle due to injuries in net and to captain
Auston Matthews, who appears to be getting healthy.
As a result of the forward injuries, the team
picked up veteran forward Sammy Blais on waivers earlier in the season, with the 29-year old slotting into their lineup as they continue to work through those injuries.

In 8 games for Toronto this season, Blais has filled in admirably, tallying 1 goal and 3 points in that time, but with Matthews set to return and the rest of the forward group starting to get healthy as
Matthew Knies and Nicholas Roy also get healthy, there's simply no spot for him on this roster.
Now, it has been revealed that the team have placed the veteran forward on waivers, with the hope that he can pass through and give this team depth for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign.
However, there are many teams out there that would love veteran depth, including the Montreal Canadiens, who were the team that waived him early in the season, and with injuries of their own, they may look to put in a claim on the 29-year old.
Ultimately, Blais can play a solid role up and down any lineup in the National Hockey League, and while he may pass through and spend his season in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies, given how well he played in limited opportunities for the Maple Leafs in 8 games with a prior 265 NHL games under his belt, don't be shocked if there's interest in him.
