The Toronto Maple Leafs earned a critical win on Monday, beating the divisional foe Tampa Bay Lightning 2-0.
But there was a controversial moment during the game that had Maple Leafs fans feeling like they'd been given the short end of the stick.
Forward Bobby McMann was ejected after the on-ice officials he was guilty of an unacceptable high-sticking penalty against Lightning forward Oliver Bjorkstrand.
Here's the incident:
When asked about it following the game, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said that he didn't see it well enough to make a judgment on the incident in real time.
That is a tough one. It really is. I have to look at it more closely, which I didn't. From our view on the bench, I couldn't really see it too well. I'll take a look at it, but I had a tough time with that, to be honest with you. - Craig Berube
McMann wasn't the only player ejected from the game, as Lightning forward Gage Goncalves was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct after he was whistled for kneeing Toronto defenseman Dakota Mermis.
