Patrick Marleau's wife makes startling claim about Evander Kane

The Evander Kane saga just picked up a wild new chapter, and it involves one of the most respected families in hockey.

Patrick Marleau's wife, Christina, waded into the ongoing back and forth over Kane's reputation, and what she had to say paints an unflattering picture.

It started with former NHL tough guy Kurtis Gabriel, who has spent over a week going after Kane on social media.

Gabriel and Kane were teammates in San Jose during the 2020-21 season, so he's not speaking from the outside.

As it dragged on, Gabriel brought in an unexpected voice to back his claims, and it turned out to be Christina Marleau herself.

According to the message Gabriel shared, which he says was fully approved by Christina before posting, Patrick could not stand being around Kane during their years together with the Sharks.

It went as far as saying Patrick refused to let their kids anywhere near the locker room whenever Kane was around.

Kane has not stayed quiet through this.

He's hinted that he's holding onto plenty of information of his own and has promised that when the timing is right, everything will come out.

For now, he's brushing off the allegations and pointing to what he calls contradicting proof.

All of this is playing out while Kane remains without a team more than two months into free agency.

Reports suggest his asking price has fallen to a league minimum deal, and there's growing chatter that a KHL club in Russia could be his most realistic landing spot if nothing changes soon.

Stories like this certainly don't help his case with teams sitting on the fence.

Whether Kane ever produces the receipts he keeps promising remains to be seen, but for now, the Marleau family has made their feelings known loud and clear.
