Seattle Kraken reportedly ready to move 40-goal scorer Jared McCann

Once again, the Seattle Kraken are struggling to put together any kind of consistency, and they're currently in the sixth place spot in the Pacific Division.

But if they continue on their current path, it's a real possibility that they won't qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for what would be the third straight year since advancing to Game 7 of the 2023 WCSF against the Dallas Stars.

If they are out of the playoff race come March, they could begin shedding pieces while trying to build for the future.

Per a new report from NHL analyst David Pagnotta, the Kraken are allegedly willing to part ways with former 40-goal scoring forward Jared McCann.

So far this year, McCann has eight points (5G, 3A), but he's been limited to only 11 games with injury and was recently placed on Injured Reserve.

McCann was taken with the 24th overall pick by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft while he was playing for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the OHL.

He would start his career with the Canucks and play there until he was traded in 2016 to the Florida Panthers for Erik Gudbranson. He would suit up for the Panthers until 2019 when he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins with Nick Bjugstad for Derick Brassard, Riley Sheahan and draft picks.

McCann was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in July 2021, but never played a game in a Leafs sweater, and was taken by the Kraken in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. He has one more season left on his contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $5 million.

He has 406 points (189G, 217A) in 679 career games.
