While many fans will be looking around the hockey landscape to see who their next coach would be, others have worried mightily over how this will effect the future of captain Sidney Crosby.
During his first press conference since the move, General Manager Kyle Dubas has revealed that he called Crosby and let him know the news ahead of time, which is a given because of the respect 87 demands in Pittsburgh.
«Five-minute conversationI have to do what's best for organization.»
However, the most important part of that comment was when he addressed the future of Crosby, and when he was asked if there was concern that this could effect Crosby's desire to stay in Pittsburgh, Dubas kept it simple with a very clear 'no'.
As of right now, nothing has indicated a potential desire from Crosby to leave Pittsburgh, and even with rumours he may be looking to request a trade, he has simply repeated his desire to remain a one-team player for his entire career.
Ultimately, things could still change, with Crosby likely to have several years left playing at a high level in the NHL, and while he's expressed a desire to stay in Pittsburgh thus far, there's always a chance that if things continue this way for the team, he could eventually change his mind.
