Linus Ullmark has been fantastic since arriving in Ottawa, but after recently taking a leave of absence, he's now considered out 'indefinitely'.
The Ottawa Senators were one of the stories of the NHL a season ago, ending their Stanley Cup Playoffs drought as they solidified themselves as a force to be reckoned with for years to come in the Eastern Conference.
However, the team are now sitting in last place in the Atlantic Division with a 22-19-5 record, and after recently being hit with some major accusations off the ice, the team could be on the verge of falling apart.
Ullmark's absence now considered indefinite
Recently, veteran goaltender Linus Ullmark stepped away from the team for personal reasons, with many worried about what this meant for the veteran.
Following that, a report from Bruce Garrioch has revealed that there's no timetable for the veteran net minders return, with some considering his absence from the team indefinite.
However, the veteran was recently at practice with the team, and while that doesn't mean he's close to a return, it's certainly a good sign that he's still trying to stay connected with the group.
When he was on the ice for the Senators this season, Ullmark showed flashes of his old self, posting a 2.95 GAA and an .881 save percentage, and if they're to be a Stanley Cup threat, they'll need him to be at his very best once again.
Moving forward, this is certainly a story to keep a very close eye on, and with the Senators season already on the verge of potential collapse, it's safe to say that his return will play a key role in how they fare down the stretch.
