The New York Rangers have struggled immensely in the last 18 months, and now, they've penned a letter to fans that promises change.

In years gone by, the New York Rangers have been right in line for a shot at the Stanley Cup Finals, but each time, they fell at the final hurdle as they struggled to take that final step.
Now, in the past 18 months, they've taken several steps backwards, making changes to the roster as they brought in the likes of J.T. Miller following trades of Jacob Trouba and Chris Kreider.

Chris Drury promises change for the Rangers

In 2025/26, things have gone from bad to worse under new Head Coach Mike Sullivan and the captaincy of Miller, with the team now sitting at 20-22-6, good for last place in the Metropolitan Division.
Things have gotten so bad that on Friday, the team took to social media to show a letter penned by their General Manager, who admits things haven't gone the way anyone had hoped, promising to be better moving forward.
We are not going to stand pat - a shift will give us the ability to be smart and opportunistic as we retool the team. - GM Chris Drury
Clearly, the Rangers organization are aware of how bad things have gone, and given the fact that the team traded away some beloved players for these struggles, it appears as though Drury believed he owed the fans an explanation and a promise moving forward.
Ultimately, this is a team that has some intriguing young players and assets to make changes with, and while there's no clear path forward in the coming months, the team are clearly motivated to make some upgrades.
