Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark, is opening up in his first public interview since he took a leave of absence from the team amidst the 'homewrecker' rumours.

Ottawa Senators goalie Linus Ullmark took a leave of absence from the team on December 28, but then was faced with stunning rumours involving his personal life.
The rumours, which were expressly denounced by both captain Brady Tkachuk and later by GM Steve Staois, were addressed in a recent interview with Ullmark, the full version of which has yet to be released.
The rumours that were being spread about me and my family started the day after I take a leave of absence, and people wonder why hockey players, professional athletes are not talking. Why we're not showing any sort of emotions, why mental health in men and women is a stigma.

It took less than 24 hours after my absence of leave to try and find reasons why I'm gone, saying I'm a home wrecker, a person that nobody likes on the team, and I can't defend myself. I didn't know about this until days later. And it sucks because I have a family, I have a wife, I have kids, I get sent text messages asking like, 'Hey are you guys good?' I'm like, 'Yeah, why?'

And then they, you know, they tell you about the rumours, and you're like, 'What the f--- is wrong with people?' - Linus Ullmark

Before his leave of absence, Ullmark had gone 14-8-5 with a .881 SV% in his second year in a Senators sweater.

Senators GM Steve Staios Harshly Denounced The Damaging Rumours

Staios released a statement on behalf of the Senators denouncing the damaging and false rumours that were being spread online, and later said that he's going to always defend his players.
I'm always going to stand up for our players. I think our organization has been up front about that. I know my players appreciate that from the organization. I know I would as a player, especially when there's false accusations. And false accusations not just at any point in time, but when a player is going through a certain situation. - Steve Staios

Ullmark is in his second year with the Senators after being acquired from the divisional foe Boston Bruins in 2024.
