The New York Post is calling out New York Rangers star forward Artemi Panarin as being the 'poster child' for their struggles so far this year.

The New York Rangers are in second to last place in the Metropolitan Division standings with a 6-6-2 record, which have included a stunning four shutout losses at home.
So far, they have not seen the kind of improvements or consistency that they wanted when coach Mike Sullivan was hired over the summer to replace the terminated Peter Laviolette.
The New York Post is taking star forward Artemi Panarin to task after he's only scored seven points (2G, 5A) in 14 games, a 41 point pace.
And perhaps no one symbolizes the team's lack of scoring recently more than Artemi Panarin, who had seven points (two goals and five assists) in the season's first eight games and hasn't gotten on the scoresheet once in his past six.

He went without a goal for at least six consecutive games twice last season, so Panarin could still rebound from this slow start.

But even in those droughts a year ago, he was picking up some assists along the way, something he hasn't done in his past seven games.

The Rangers need far more out of Panarin considering what he's getting paid.

Artemi Panarin Reportedly Won't Take A Discount On His Next Deal

Panarin is a pending UFA next summer, as the seven year contract he signed in 2019 comes to a close after this season.
But per reports, Panarin has no intention of taking less money and wants to cash in in as much as possible on his next contract.
If Panarin won't accept less money, there's a chance the Rangers could choose to trade him.
