It was a painful decision for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but they have decided to send down Easton Cowan to the AHL's Toronto Marlies after the return of Scott Laughton from Injured Reserve.

The very first stint in the National Hockey League for Toronto Maple Leafs forward Easton Cowan has come to a close, as he was assigned to the AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies.
In a corresponding move, the Maple Leafs have activated Scott Laughton from Injured Reserve; he missed the opening 13 games of the year after getting hurt in a preseason game.
Maple Leafs F Easton Cowan has been assigned to the Toronto Marlies (AHL).

F Scott Laughton has been activated from IR.
Cowan was taken by the Maple Leafs with the 28th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft while playing for the OHL's London Knights.

Easton Cowan Recently Scored His First NHL Goal With The Maple Leafs

Cowan recently scored his first NHL goal, and was happy to do it with John Tavares on the ice with him.
It felt good, you want to score. In the first eight games I played, I didn't. So I just stuck with it in practice, kept getting better, and I'm gonna keep doing that. It always felt like it was just a matter of time, you know? I stuck with it.

I live with him a lot, so to be able to share that moment with him is awesome. I want to play beside him, just an unreal guy and an even better player. What a feeling to do it for your hometown team. I wouldn't want to play anywhere else, that's for sure.

Cowan had four points (1G, 3A) in the 10 games he played.
