Maple Leafs forward Easton Cowan has commented on scoring his first NHL goal with John Tavares, who recently scored his 500th goal, on his side.

The Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 yesterday, at least a small consolation prize for the city of Toronto after the Blue Jays lost Game 7 of the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers heartbreakingly in extra innings.
During the game, Maple Leafs rookie Easton Cowan scored his first career NHL goal and did so while on the ice with John Tavares, who had scored his 500th career goal earlier in the week.
Cowan would say not only did it feel good to score, but being able to share the moment with Tavares on the ice with him made it even more special.
It felt good, you want to score. In the first eight games I played, I didn't. So I just stuck with it in practice, kept getting better, and I'm gonna keep doing that. It always felt like it was just a matter of time, you know? I stuck with it.

I live with him a lot, so to be able to share that moment with him is awesome. I want to play beside him, just an unreal guy and an even better player. What a feeling to do it for your hometown team. I wouldn't want to play anywhere else, that's for sure.

Easton Cowan Is Playing In His First Year In The NHL With The Maple Leafs

Cowan was taken by the Leafs with the 28th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, and he signed a three year entry level contract while continuing to play for the London Knights of the OHL.
Last year with the Knights, he had 69 points (20G, 49A) in 46 games played.
So far this year with the Maple Leafs, he has four points (1G, 3A).
