Alex Tuch's future in Buffalo has been a major talking point this year, and now Elliotte Friedman has revealed how much it will cost Buffalo to keep him in town.
The Buffalo Sabres have rebounded from a slow start to the 2025/26, and through 12 games they've got a solid 5-4-3 record as they look to finally make a genuine Stanley Cup Playoffs push.
However, they've got some major decisions to make throughout the year, with the biggest involving star winger Alex Tuch, who is a big time free agent in the summer of 2026.
To this point, he's shown immense loyalty to Buffalo, as he grew up a fan of the team, but given their struggles since his arrival, it's unclear if he'll go to free agency, extend with the Sabres or get traded before then.
Elliotte Friedman Reveals How Much It Will Cost To Keep Tuch
Now, Elliotte Friedman has revealed on the latest
32 Thoughts podcast that unless he's willing to shock the world and give the Sabres a major discount, it's going to cost them a pretty penny to retain him.
If you're Buffalo, unless Tuch is willing to say "hey, I'm from the area, I'm willing to give you a little less", you're in that $11.5m area.
This season, Tuch has tallied 5 goals and 12 points with the team, and given that he has 59 or more points in each of his full three seasons with the team to date, it's safe to see why the team want to keep him around.
To make that happen though, GM Kevyn Adams is going to have to fork out some big time money for Tuch, but given that he's a free agent next summer, there's going to be many big decisions to be made for this front office.
