Kyle Dubas Reveals 'Different Viewpoints' on Sidney Crosby and His Agent
Sidney Crosby's future in the NHL is still up in the air, and now GM Kyle Dubas has opened up on how he and Crosby's viewpoints on the future may be different.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the surprises of the NHL thus far in 2025/26, and while many expected them to be among the worst teams in the league, they've posted an 8-4-2 record through their first 14 games.
Unsurprisingly, Sidney Crosby continues to excel, posting 9 goals and 17 points across those 14 games, with Penguins Insider Josh Yohe revealing a statistic that shows just how good Crosby is at 38-years of age.
Kyle Dubas Reveals Different Viewpoints With Crosby
However, it's unclear how long this success is going to last, and given all the speculation around No. 87 over the summer, many still believe that he could be traded at some point.
Recently, GM Kyle Dubas addressed the situation with Crosby after their teams hot start in an interview with The Athletic, noting that their goals are very similar, but behind the scenes, he may have different viewpoints to 87 and his agent Pat Brisson.
Our goal is not so different. Every day, we're trying to get better. We're trying to put ourselves in a position to win every single day. And I think that's been what we really set out to do from the spring to the summer through the fall. I understand that it doesn't appear on the outside at times that it's glaringly obvious, but internally, we have very different viewpoints on it, and the results of the team will dictate who's right and who's wrong.
Simply put, some in Pittsburgh are trying to win for Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and this veteran group, while others are looking towards the future, and if a true rebuild comes along, those different viewpoints could begin to clash in a big way.
For now though, the team remains competitive, and as long as that happens, they will all be on the same page, but if the team start to struggle, we may see some drama in Pittsburgh surrounding Dubas and his captain.
