The New York Rangers have sold off some big names in recent times, and now, we know the only untouchable on their roster ahead of the 2026 trade deadline.

The New York Rangers have been one of the NHL's biggest disappointments over the past two seasons, and in that time, the front office has clearly realized that this veteran core just isn't set up for long-term success.
That has led to many trades of veterans like Chris Kreider, Jacob Trouba and Reilly Smith among others, with the most recent trade being that of Artemi Panarin, who was dealt to the Los Angeles Kings.

Igor Shesterkin names as the Rangers only untouchable

While the Rangers have made some big time moves, they still don't have many significant assets for the future, and with just a few weeks between the end of the Olympic roster freeze and the 2026 trade deadline, they're likely to make a few more moves to prioritize their long-term future.
Now, reporter Nick Kypreos has revealed the only one true untouchable on the Rangers current roster, naming Igor Shesterkin and his eight-year, $92 million contract as the only player the team won't be moving in the coming weeks.
That doesn't mean that the team will indeed be trading all of their current players, but with players like J.T. Miller, Vincent Trocheck, Mika Zibanejad and Alexis Lafreniere all holding varying levels of value, it could be the time to make a flurry of moves.
Ultimately, this Rangers core never ended up making a significant run to the Stanley Cup Finals, and with so many other teams in the Eastern Conference passing them over, now is the time to sell, and it appears they're ready to make some big time moves as a result.
