Artemi Panarin's days in New York were numbered coming into 2025/26, and after weeks of speculation, he's officially been dealt in a blockbuster deal.
The New York Rangers have been struggling over the past 18 months, and after dealing several veterans, it was a matter of when, not if they dealt pending free agent Artemi Panarin, despite his incredible production in his time with the organization.
He wasn't going to get a deal done without an extension, but given his talent and his production, there were still several teams looking to land the veteran star ahead of the 2026 trade deadline.
On Wednesday, reports then emerged that Panarin's future was going to be decided ahead of the Olympic roster freeze, with teams looking to get a deal done ahead of the three week break that teams have for the 2026 Olympic Games, with Cam Robinson the first to report this.

After all the speculation, the team have now finally dealt Panarin, as he has been dealt in a blockbuster deal to the LA Kings as the Rangers continue to tear things down.
It's a move that was a long time coming for the Rangers, and for the Kings, it's a massive pickup that can boost their Stanley Cup Playoff hopes moving forward as they land a player with 607 points in 482 games for the Rangers over the past seven seasons.
Ultimately, Panarin may be reaching his mid 30's, but given the immense potential and production that he's still having at his age, this was a no-brainer for the Kings, and now that a deal is done, the league will head into the Olympic break after one of the biggest moves we've seen in recent years.
