The Bridgeport Islanders Are Moving To Hamilton, Ontario
The Bridgeport Islanders were originally known as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers when they joined the AHL as an expansion team in 2001, but they would eventually change their name in 2021.
Last year was an extremely rough one, as they finished 15-50-4-3, which included a dismal 4-28-1-3 record at home, which is now the new record for fewest wins at home by an AHL team.
Alumni of the AHL's Islanders that eventually played at least 100 games in the NHL include Rick DiPietro, Blake Comeau, Devon Toews, Raffi Torres, Simon Holmstrom, Frans Nielsen, Ryan Pulock and Sean Bergenheim.
