Dougie Hamilton has been a very successful player in the NHL, but now, his agent has confirmed he will be a healthy scratch moving forward in New Jersey.
The New Jersey Devils have been through plenty this season, but after a very hot start to the season, they've slowed down immensely in recent times as they've fallen out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
The locker room has been going through it as well, with the speculation around Quinn Hughes reportedly bringing unnecessary drama that has threatened to tear the room apart.

Now, another veteran has been going through a tough time, with the team seemingly making blue liner Dougie Hamilton a healthy scratch recently after his declining play on the ice.
Pierre LeBrun then reached out to his agent, JP Barry, who went on to confirm that with Jonathan Kovacevic returning to the lineup, Hamilton will continue to be a healthy scratch moving forward.
Dougie was informed today that he will be not be playing now that Kovacevic is back in the lineup. In our view, this decision is all about business rather than his game right now. Singling him out seems very calculated at this stage.
Barry also confirms that there have been efforts behind the scenes for the Devils to use his 10-team trade list to get a deal done, and given the healthy scratch, it's something that both parties are striving for.
Dougie has a 10-team trade list and there have been efforts to trade him going back to the draft last year. We have made it clear to the Devils that we will consider teams outside our list and other creative ways to get to a team that is mutually acceptable.
Ultimately, with just 5 goals and 10 points alongside a -7 differential this season, Hamilton is clearly slowing down, so with the deadline approaching, it's likely that a move will be made soon.
