Players share their thoughts on the rink for the 2026 Olympics
The Olympics are now less than a month away, but after a trial game on the ice, there are still question marks about how this tournament will run.
The 2026 Olympics have been earmarked as one of the most highly anticipated events in the hockey calendar for quite some time now, with the NHL's return to the event having the hockey world buzzing.
Unfortunately, things in Italy haven't been going very smoothly, with many fearing that the Olympic arena would not be ready in time for the event, with the NHL's involvement in the event put in jeopardy.
Trial game answers some questions, raises more
On Friday however, a trial game was played on the Olympic ice, and while things went smoothly for most of the game, a hole reportedly appeared in the ice which had those in the NHL in panic mode.
After that game, some of the players gave their opinion, with Florian Wieser giving fans and players ahead of the Olympics some optimism as he revealed good things about it.
It's still a work in progress, but the ice was pretty OK. It was not bad. I talked with the Zamboni guy. He said it will be good. It was pretty good today, like not bad.
I think maybe not perfect, but when the NHLers are coming, I think it will be good. - Florian Wieser

So while it's not perfect right now, the players that played on the ice believe that in a months time with plenty of work between now and then, things should be good to go for the Olympics.
Ultimately, a tournament like this may not end up running perfectly, but if the play on the ice is good and there's some big time rivalry games going down, it's safe to say that fans should have a very good time.
