'Get me out of there right now': Elliotte Friedman believes an implosion may be coming in Ottawa

Last season, the Ottawa Senators took a major step forward, and given how they've locked in the majority of their talented core, many expected them to be a contender once again in 2025/26.

However, with a record of 20-18-5, they currently sit in last place in the Atlantic Division, and now, their entire organization has been caught in a shocking rumour that has begun surfacing online.

It's one thing for players to get booed on the ice when they're struggling, but in a Canadian market that's already difficult to play in, these personal rumours that call out players by name take it to another level entirely.

That was something discussed by Elliotte Friedman on the latest 32 Thoughts podcast, where he stated his belief that as a result of being personally targeted, an implosion could be on the way in Ottawa with players potentially asking out.

As of right now, there's been no indicator that a player will be asking out, but given the organization's reaction to the rumours, it's safe to say that anything could happen as a result of this drama.

Ultimately, it wouldn't be a good look for the Senators if a player did ask out due to a potentially fabricated rumour, but given how targeted some players were personally, it could make sense if they seek a much smaller, low-key market to play in instead.
