It's been a difficult year for the Predators, and Jonathan Marchessault is opening up about the mental health struggles that he has been experiencing.

The Nashville Predators have inexplicably been one of the worst franchises in the NHL this season, despite adding 3 of the biggest free agents that were available on the open market last summer.
They inked Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault, and Brady Skjei to multi-year contracts and were expected to be Stanley Cup contenders but instead stumbled out of the gate with a 0-5 record and never recovered; they have since already officially been eliminated from playoff contention.
Marchessault, who won the Conn Smythe Trophy with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023, is opening up about the mental health struggles that he's been experiencing.
It's definitely been a hard season for me, personally. I didn't expect the move to be that big, in terms of (draining my) energy. ... I think it was just a really tough summer, to be honest. Not a lot of time for me and my wife to just relax and enjoy life a little bit. So it's been definitely overwhelming.

Mental health (has been) challenging this year. But if you look at my past, and the way I'm built and all that, I will bounce back.

It's a year unlike any other that he's experienced, which he admitted was a tough thing to go through.
And we didn't reach that this year, so obviously, that's disappointing. And I've never had necessarily a season like that, the bottom of the league, it's been tough.

He has 49 points (19G, 30A) in his 1st 72 games in a Predators sweater.
