The Montreal Canadiens have surprised some of their fans by placing young defenseman William Trudeau on the waiver wire.

The Montreal Canadiens are off to an impressive start this year thanks in large part to the major contributions from players like Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki and reigning Calder Trophy winner Lane Hutson.
But speaking of young players, the Canadiens have raised a few eyebrows by placing young defenseman William Trudeau on the waiver wire for the purpose of being loaned to the AHL affiliate Laval Rocket.
The Canadiens have placed defenseman William Trudeau on waivers for the purpose of a loan to the Laval Rocket.
Because of an injury, Trudeau has yet to appear in any games this season with either the Rocket or Canadiens.

William Trudeau Was Taken By The Canadiens In The 2021 NHL Entry Draft

Trudeau was taken by the Canadiens with the 113th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft while playing for the Charlottetown Islanders of the QMJHL. He made his professional debut with the Rocket in 2022-23, and had 27 points (7G, 20A) in 60 games played.
Last year in 68 games played with the Rocket, Trudeau had 19 points (5G, 14A) in 68 games.
He started this season with the Canadiens on their roster but was listed as non-roster/injured.
Trudeau is signed to an NHL AAV (average annual value) of $775,000, a minor-league salary of $90,000, and a guaranteed salary of $100,000.
