Montreal Canadiens Linked to Future Hall of Famer Steven Stamkos by Top Insider

The Montreal Canadiens have been linked to future Hall of Fame forward Steven Stamkos, currently with the Nashville Predators, by analyst Jeff Marek.
Things have just not worked out for Steven Stamkos since he left the Tampa Bay Lightning. His offense has dried up, finishing with 13 less goals in his first full year with the Predators compared to his last year with the Lightning, and through 12 games, he only has a single goal this year.
It's a startling change for Stamkos, who was expected to help lead the Predators to new heights when he signed a four year contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $8 million last summer.
Stamkos is already finding himself involved in trade rumours, and per analyst Jeff Marek, either the Vancouver Canucks or Montreal Canadiens could be potential fits for him if he's moved.
It's not a good fit, it's not working. I know life away from Point and Kucherov can be tough, I still do have a hard time believing what I'm seeing, considering he left Tampa scoring 40 goals. And I know you're not playing with a traveling All Star team anymore, but I know he's 35, and when it happens, it happens suddenly. I just never saw it with Stamkos.

The Canadiens Could Be A Fit For Steven Stamkos
The Canadiens recently lost forward Patrik Laine for several months, as he underwent surgery to fix a core muscle issue.
Stamkos could immediately replace Laine on the Canadiens' power play, and a change in scenery could prove beneficial for him with a team that puts more of an emphasis on offense as opposed to the more defensive-minded Predators.
