The Vancouver Canucks are looking for an upgrade, and now, according to a top reporter, they're considering the idea of targeting Steven Stamkos.
This season has started slow for the Vancouver Canucks with a 5-6-0 record through 11 games, but after a disaster campaign in 2024/25, this is an organization that still holds major hope for the season ahead.
However, there's one major, gaping hole on this current roster, and that's filling the 2C role that was left behind by J.T. Miller last season, with their potential replacement Filip Chytil going down with yet another head injury early in 2025/26.
Vancouver Targeting Steven Stamkos To Fill A Key Role
Early on Thursday, the team were linked to a St. Louis Blues veteran, and now, Rick Dhaliwal has revealed that the team have been poking around yet another well respected veteran to fill that role.
On the latest episode of the Donnie and Dahli show, Dhaliwal dropped a bombshell revelation, noting that the team have been poking around potential trade talks with the Nashville Predators surrounding veteran Steven Stamkos.
This has led to plenty of negative reactions from fans on social media, with many seeing Stamkos' major drop in production over the past two years and not wanting their team to target what may now be a negative asset overall.
The 35-year old veteran has just 1 goal and 2 points in 11 games played thus far, and while that production may be jolted playing with the likes of Brock Boeser, Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes and others, the thought is that there is better options out there, but for now, this is a rumour that can't be ignored.
