Martin St-Louis delivers a Lane Hutson injury update Canadiens fans were waiting for

Lane Hutson got the update Montreal needed when Martin St-Louis said the Canadiens defenseman was fine after Game 2.
For Montreal, Hutson is not just another blue line option. He is one of the few players who can change the tempo of a playoff shift with one controlled exit.
The Canadiens lost 3-2 in overtime to the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, and Hutson still played 24:52. That workload tells the real story.
St-Louis does not have a spare version of Hutson sitting on the bench. If Hutson is limited, Montreal's breakout gets heavier, slower, and easier to pressure.

St-Louis avoids a major blue line problem
The update from St-Louis removes the worst-case scenario, but it should not remove the strategic concern.
Carolina already held Montreal to 12 shots on goal in Game 2. That number is a warning sign for a team that needs clean puck movement from its defense.
Hutson finished with no shots and a -1 rating, which is less important than how much Montreal depends on him to start offense under pressure.
That is where the coaching decision comes in.
St-Louis can say Hutson is fine, but Game 3 should reveal whether he is fine enough to handle the same matchup load, power-play rhythm, and escape pressure below the circles.
This is not about toughness. Hutson already answered that part.
It is about whether Montreal can keep leaning on him without exposing him to another night of heavy Carolina forecheck pressure.
The Canadiens need Hutson active, not just dressed. There is a major difference.
