Cole Caufield gets honest about Canadiens' recent struggles: 'The answer is in the mirror'
Cole Caufield and the Canadiens have very high hopes in 2025/26, but after recent struggles, the young winger has gotten honest about their issues.
Early this season, the Montreal Canadiens were absolutely rolling, but after dropping seven of their last eight games, they now sit at 10-7-3 on the year through their first 20 games played.
That's still a favourable position to be in, but after allowing 27 goals across their five game losing skid, it's safe to say that they need to turn momentum in a hurry if they are to turn their struggles around.
Cole Caufield reveals what Montreal need to do to turn things around
With a young squad, it would be easy for this team to simply start blaming others and making excuses, but that's not what they are about, with young winger Cole Caufield revealing the team needs to look in the mirror if they are to turn things around.
The answer is in the mirror.
Whether that's effort, commitment, attention to detail or something else, Caufield is clearly placing the blame on the entire team for not turning up the way they should as of late, and after allowing 8 goals on Thursday night, this is a team that is sorely struggling.
Caufield himself has been off to another great start this year with 13 goals and 21 points through 20 games placing him second on the team, but with his recent comments, he shows what a leader he has become, as he's taking responsibility as everyone on this team should for their recent slide.
There's still over 60 games left in the regular season, so there's plenty of time for Montreal to turn things around, and given what potential they've got as a team, if they can look within and find their best form once more, this is still a genuine contender in the Eastern Conference.
