NHL Department of Player Safety makes ruling on Tom Wilson after divisive hit on Jake Evans
The National Hockey League Department of Player Safety has made a ruling on repeat offender, Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson, after his divisive hit on Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans in last night's game.
There is no denying that Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson has a
well-earned reputation for playing with an edge and often stepping over the line.
During last night's game against the Montreal Canadiens, Wilson leveled Montreal's Jake Evans with a powerful hit after taking several strides just moments before a Capitals goal.
Evans, who has a history of concussions in his NHL career, would go to the locker room, and many felt like Wilson should receive supplemental discipline from the NHL.
But Wilson, even though he's a repeat offender, will not be punished this time around by the NHL Department of Player Safety per a report from TVA Sports analyst Renaud Lavoie.
No hearing for Tom Wilson. Jake Evans left the game after being hit by Wilson in the 2nd period.
Tom Wilson Has Been Suspended And Fined Multiple Times In His NHL Career
Wilson has been fined and suspended multiple times in his career for predatory actions in the ice, perhaps most notably in 2018 when he was banned 20 games for an illegal hit to the head of St. Louis Blues forward
Oskar Sundqvist, though it would later be reduced to 14 games.
He was most recently suspended for six games in 2024 for a high sticking incident on Toronto's
Noah Gregor.
