Marc-Andre Fleury signs deal with Wild to return to NHL
In breaking news today, NHL insider Frank Seravalli has revealed that Marc-Andre Fleury will return to the NHL for another season with the Wild after signing an extension.
You wouldn't be alone if you thought that Marc-Andre Fleury was going to hang it up after this season came to a close. All signs pointed to his retirement this season, and while he never confirmed it, he also never shut down the reports that this would be his last go around.
However, at the end of the year, Fleury did hint to the media that he would be open to making a return to the Wild if the cards were right. Clearly, Wild executives got the message, and quickly inked Fleury to a 1-year extension worth $2.5 million, solidifying that he will return for 1 more season of NHL hockey.
Big news: Marc-Andre Fleury is signing a 1-year extension with #mnwild at $2.5 million.
Fleury turns 40 in November. Flower climbed to second all-time in wins (561) last season and with 21 more games, can pass Roy and Luongo for second all-time in games played by a goaltender.
Fleury has already had a historic career and will look to get another milestone next season becoming second on the list of all-time games played by a goaltender in the NHL.
