Shocking reason why Dave Hakstol was fired is revealed
The Seattle Kraken surprised the hockey world when they decided to move on from coach Dave Hakstol, more details have emerged regarding why they did.
As aforementioned, it came as a bit of surprise when the Kraken announced that they would not be renewing the contract of the only head coach in Seattle Kraken history. While the team didn't dominate, they had some periods of great play, which made fans and media members question the decision.
Today, ESPN's Emily Kaplan revealed some news that shed a bit of light on the GM Ron Francis' ultimate decision.
Interesting report from @emilymkaplan on ESPN's The Point regarding Dave Hakstol.
Kaplan says she was told that at exit meetings, a handful of "pretty significant players" made it clear to management that they "don't want to play on this team in the future if Dave Hakstol is still the coach." #SEAKraken
I guess this makes things a bit clearer as to why Hakstol was canned, however his track record as a coach wasn't all bad, as seen by the stats below:
Gutsy move by Seattle to move on from Hakstol. Team has been fundamentally the same thing throughout, which is a mid low-event squad.
Y1 goaltending was disastrous, Y2 shooting was red-hot.
Rush play at both ends fell apart this season. #SeaKraken
All of this aside, the question remains: who do you think will be the next Seattle Kraken head coach?
More to come.
