The Edmonton Oilers new alternate jersey is coming into focus, and one insider just gave fans their best look yet at what it might actually look like on the ice.
Edmonton Oilers fans have been chasing scraps of information on the team's Hometown Remix jersey for months now, and this week brought the most detailed preview so far.
DJ Bean of the What Chaos! podcast, who says he has personally seen renderings of several teams' designs, shared his own hand drawn interpretation of the Oilers sweater on X, joking about his amazing drawing skills while giving fans a rough visual to chew on.
What the drawing actually shows
Bean's sketch depicts a black primary jersey with orange and gray trim running through the collar, shoulders, sleeves and hem, plus a recolored version of the shoulder patch already seen on Edmonton's current third jersey.
That lines up with earlier reporting from Chris Smith of Icethetics and Tom Gazzola of Edmonton Sports Talk, both of whom pointed to black becoming the primary color with neon orange accents pulling inspiration from the navy third jersey Edmonton wore from 2019 through 2023.
If accurate, it would mark the first black jersey in franchise history.
Why this matters league wide
The Oilers are just one piece of a much bigger rollout.
The NHL and Fanatics officially confirmed the Hometown Remix program will bring a new alternate jersey to all 32 teams for the 2026-27 season, with each design meant to reflect local culture and fan identity.
Edmonton will carry four jerseys into the new season once the Remix sweater joins the home, road and cream alternate sets, with full reveals expected shortly after puck drop on September 29.
