Oilers make multiple roster moves after fan outcry
The Edmonton Oilers recently released Noah Philp, and after some outcry from the fans looking for a change, they've recalled two forwards from the AHL.
The Edmonton Oilers 2025/26 season has been a rollercoaster thus far, but with a record of 20-15-6 as the new year arrives, this is now a team that's confident they can make another major run this season.
However, the roster recently got a shakeup when the Oilers placed forward Noah Philip on waivers, and after being claimed by the Carolina Hurricanes, the team needed to make a move to replace him.
Oilers make two roster moves ahead of upcoming stretch
On Friday, the team officially announced that forward's Isaac Howard and Quinn Hutson have officially been recalled from the Bakersfield Condors, and with the team needing to shake things up in the bottom-six, this could be the perfect opportunity for both.
This is a move that was clearly welcomed by the Oilers, as many fans are looking for the team to get much younger in the bottom-six, with calls for the team to put out some very young lines moving forward.
Since being demoted to the AHL, Howard has stood up and shown his immense potential, posting 10 goals and 23 points in 16 games played after a slow start to his NHL career with the Oilers.
Ultimately though, neither player is guaranteed a major roster spot and significant playing time, so that means they'll need to prove themselves worthy moving forward, but given the talent they've flashed this season, these moves are highly welcomed by the team and the fans.
