Team USA releases Olympic roster with several controversial snubs

After weeks of anticipation, the American roster for the Winter Olympics has officially been released. And even though many of the names that most fans and analysts would have suspected to be included are indeed on the roster, there were more than a few notable absences.

There are five players among the ten leading scoring US-born players in the NHL who are not included on the roster:

The snub of Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson is probably the most surprising, considering his 48 points (24G, 24A).

Additionally, New York Rangers defenseman Adam Fox was also notably snubbed.

Not only were there multiple notable snubs on the American roster, but there were also multiple notable snubs on the Canada roster as well.

Names like Sam Bennett and Connor Bedard were not included on the Canadian roster by GM Doug Armstrong.

Additionally, Seth Jarvis and Travis Konecny were also not included despite having played for Canada at the 4 Nations Faceoff last February.

The American roster will try and prevent a three-peat for Canada in gold medal wins after their victories in 2010 (Vancouver) and 2014 (Sochi). They also suffered a painful defeat to Canada in OT in the 4 Nations Faceoff finale in Boston.
