Oilers GM Stan Bowman makes somber comments: 'We're just not clicking'
Oilers general manager Stan Bowman had some somber comments not long after their humiliating 9-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche of their overall play.
Even though the Edmonton Oilers were able to come back last night against the Columbus Blue Jackets and win 5-4 in OT, they were still trailing 4-2 in the third period after another completely uninspiring performance from goalie Stuart Skinner.
That was just days after they were completely embarrassed 9-1 on home ice against the Colorado Avalanche. Skinner was pulled after allowing four goals, and Calvin Pickard then allowed five goals of his own.
Oilers GM Stan Bowman admitted the hard truth saying that his team just isn't playing cohesively with one another right now and that goaltending isn't the only problem.
Our goalies have been average - haven't been elite and they haven't been bad. Sort of the way our team has been. I don't know if they performed really any differently than our forwards and our defence. We're just not clicking as a group.
We've had ups and downs throughout with both goalies, the defence and the forwards. It would be probably clearer if (goaltending was) costing us games night after night, but that's just not it. - Stan Bowman

Right now, it sounds like Bowman believes the solution is within the Oilers' room.
Connor McDavid Called Out His Teammates After The Brutal Loss To The Avalanche
The day after the embarrassing loss to the Avalanche, Connor McDavid was seen having a tense on-ice conversation with defenseman Evan Bouchard, who has also struggled this year.
McDavid said that everyone on the team needs to be better so that they can be less disorganized.
Everybody as a whole wants to be better, myself included. Normal to have conversations with guys about different things we see out there. The game has felt, at times, unorganized, out of sync. You only figure that stuff out through talking and communicating with your teammates. - Connor McDavid
Right now, the Oilers are tied for fifth place in the Pacific Division because of their inconsistency.
