The Edmonton Oilers have suffered several injuries to key players as of late, and now things get worse as Trent Frederic has been ruled out for their next clash against the Anaheim Ducks, with the Oilers suffering another major blow.
After reaching the Stanley Cup Finals a year ago, many expected the Edmonton Oilers to be right back in contention again in 2025, but after a solid start to the year, things have gotten a little shaky in recent times.
According to reporter Mark Spector, Trent Frederic, one of the two players Edmonton acquired at the deadline in a deal with the Boston Bruins is now out for their next game, and given the impact he was supposed to make, this is a major blow.
Since arriving in Edmonton, Frederic has appeared in just one game, and while they're getting solid minutes out of
Max Jones, Frederic was supposed to be an impact player, and without him, they just wasted a key draft pick on a player that's done little to help them since the deadline.
According to Head Coach Kris Knoblauch, like their other two top stars, Frederic is expected to be back for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but as for his immediate future, it's not looking good.
"Immediate return not going to happen."
Ultimately, this may turn out to be a dreadful trade for the Oilers, and if they flame out in the post-season and Frederic leaves in free agency, it will become even worse after his injury woes.
