The Edmonton Oilers have made one major upgrade this year, and now, Stan Bowman is reportedly targeting Philadelphia's Rasmus Ristolainen.

Ever since they lost their second straight Stanley Cup Finals appearance against the Panthers in 2025, the Edmonton Oilers have been right in the middle of trade rumours in search of some key upgrades.
While they stayed away from a big move in the summer, the team were aggressive early in the year, dealing Stuart Skinner in a deal with the Penguins in the hopes that Tristan Jarry could represent a major upgrade in net.

Oilers linked to major blue line upgrade

That won't be the only move they make this season, and with the Panthers struggling in the East this year, the path has never been more clear for the Oilers to pick up their first Stanley Cup win since 1990.
In a recent report, Anthony Di Marco has revealed the Oilers latest target, with reports that they, alongside the Boston Bruins have expressed interest in Flyers right-shot blue liner Rasmus Ristolainen.
The 31-year old has been at the centre of speculation for quite some time now, and with just 1 goal and 6 points in 19 games played this season, he's a player that Philadelphia would love to deal ahead of the 2026 trade deadline.
In six games at the Olympics, Ristolainen tallied 3 assists and a +9 differential for Finland, and given that we've seen him post 40+ points consistently in the NHL in the past, it's easy to see why there's interest.
Ultimately, it's unclear whether or not the Flyers will finally pull the trigger on dealing the 31-year old, but if the offers are good enough, he'd no doubt be a major upgrade for Edmonton.
