Sidney Crosby's status coming out of the Olympics is up in the air, and now, Dan Muse has revealed that the Penguins don't know much about it.

Team USA coming away with their first gold medal in decades ended as the story of the 2026 Olympic Games, but for Team Canada, their biggest focus over the last few days was the heath of captain Sidney Crosby.
Unfortunately, Crosby was injured against Czechia, and despite giving himself every chance to play in the Gold Medal Game, he simply believed that he wasn't close enough to healthy to warrant trying to play.

Dan Muse reveals Crosby's status moving forward

While the Olympics were a major focus for NHL players this season, there's still a Stanley Cup Playoffs race going on, and as of right now, Crosby's Penguins find themselves in the running in the East, sitting in second place in the Metropolitan Division.
Unsurprisingly, there's been plenty of worry among Penguins fans about Crosby's status following the Olympics, and in his first update post-tournament, Dan Muse has revealed there's nothing new on Crosby, with the team waiting for him to return to give an official update.
Sid, we're still waiting for. He's traveling today. Waiting for him to get back. We've got to get a status update there. There's still more information that we need to have.
In 2025/26, Crosby has once again dominated, posting 27 goals and 59 points in 56 games played, and is a major reason why this team is defying expectations and pushing for a post-season spot right now.
If they are to make it to the playoffs, the team will need Crosby healthy, and while he's likely not going to play in their first game upon returning, if he can get healthy soon, this is a team that nobody in the East wants to see.
