Egor Zamula was recently traded to the Penguins, but after having his contract terminated, he has now found a new home in the Metropolitan Division.
Egor Zamula was once seen as an incredibly exciting prospect for the Philadelphia Flyers, but after putting up 21 points during the 2023/24 season, he's taken a major step back.
The 25-year old has struggled to maintain a full-time role in the National Hockey League, and after being placed on waivers by the Flyers, he was officially acquired by a Metropolitan Division rival in the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Then, his contract was officially terminated by the Penguins after he refused to report to the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins following the shock trade between two major rivals.
Zamula signs with another Metropolitan Division team
That freed up Zamula to sign with any team in the league, with recent reports revealing that there was plenty of interest in the formerly un-drafted blue liner around the NHL.
However, in a shocking new development reported by Elliotte Friedman, it appears as though he's staying in the Metropolitan Division, with the Columbus Blue Jackets now revealed as his newest team.
In 13 games with the Flyers this season, Zamula has just one assist, but also carries a +4 differential in that time, and with great size at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, he's likely going to get the chance to be a full-time NHLer in Columbus.
Only time will tell if he can ever live up to the lofty expectations that were placed upon him, but with so much talent and a bright future ahead, it's safe to say that this is a low-risk, high-reward move for Columbus.
