The Colorado Avalanche are one of the deepest and strongest teams in the NHL, and now, they've inked the brother of one of their top superstars.
Over the last few days, we've seen some of the top names in college hockey ink deals to make their way to the NHL level from undrafted free agents to former top draft picks, and now, we've seen another intriguing move.
Reportedly, the Colorado Avalanche have now signed University of Maine forward Taylor Makar, the brother of superstar Cale Makar to a one-year entry level deal for the 2025/26 campaign.
In that season, he tallied 18 goals and 30 points in 38 games played, and now, the 6-foot-3 forward has the opportunity to make the jump to the NHL and join his brother with the Avalanche.
The younger Makar is no stranger to the spotlight either, as he scored some huge goals for Maine this season on the big stage, making him one of the more intriguing prospects in the Avalanche organization.
While the hype that comes with that last name in Colorado may put immense pressure on Taylor's shoulders, he's shown that he's more than capable of living up to the name, and with the Avalanche needing some young names to produce at the top level after trading away the likes of Calum Ritchie, the belief in Taylor is there that he can be a key contributor for the team in the future.
