Betting Odds Suggest That First Overall Pick Macklin Celebrini is Losing the Calder Trophy

The San Jose Sharks' season isn't going anywhere, and the team will get the opportunity to add another great player to their roster with one of the first picks in the next draft.

Macklin Celebrini gave Sharks fans a reason to keep watching games due to his great rookie season but couldn't do enough to take his team to the next level.

Considered among the top contenders to win the Calder Trophy, Celebrini could be pushed away from the title of rookie of the year by another player who's a key element to his team's success: Lane Hutson.

The Montreal Canadiens put an end to their five-game losing streak yesterday by beating the Florida Panthers for the fourth time this season.

Hutson had a three-point game in the win. In his first pro season, the defenseman tallies 59 points, only five points away from tying the Montreal Canadiens' franchise record held by Chris Chelios.

Celebrini and Hutson, former teammates at Boston University, both had great impacts on their teams this year, but what Hutson does at the blue line simply can't be ignored.

Analysts who don't see it haven't watched many Habs games. Without him, the Habs wouldn't be holding the last wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

At only 20 years old, Hutson is already a leader and a professional. If Montreal makes it to the playoffs, there's no doubt that he'll earn the title of rookie of the year in the NHL, despite Matvei Michkov and Dustin Wolf also in the race.
