The Washington Capitals team is already loaded, and now, they've added one of the top names in college hockey in Ryan Leonard to their roster.
The Washington Capitals have made an immense turn around in 2024/25, and now they are shaping up as a genuine Stanley Cup contender, but they're not done adding to their roster.
After making some major changes in the summer, the team are now adding former No. 8 overall draft pick Ryan Leonard to the roster as he has officially signed a three-year entry level deal following the conclusion of the Boston College Eagles season.
In two years with the Eagles, Leonard played in a total of 78 games, tallying 61 goals and 109 points during that span, and after starring for the Team USA World Juniors squad, he has become one of the hottest prospects in the entire NHL.
According to insider David Pagnotta, Leonard is likely to make his NHL debut on Tuesday against the Boston Bruins, and with the size and the experience at the NCAA level behind him, it's safe to say that he's ready to immediately make the leap.
With nine regular season games remaining, the Capitals have already clinched their place in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and with spots in their lineup that can protect Leonard as he finds his way at the NHL level, this may be a major boost to the Capitals ahead of the post-season.
There are many prospects finding their way at the NHL level this season, and while Leonard isn't expected to be a star right off the bat, he has all the talents to be a fantastic winger at the highest level, so these next few weeks will certainly tell us plenty about the much hyped 20-year old.
