Sidney Crosby went down hard in Milan and the collective gasp from Canada could be heard all the way back in Nova Scotia.

The captain took a nasty hit from Radko Gudas and didn't come back for the third period.
He looked shaky heading to the room and now everyone's waiting for the Thursday update from Pierre LeBrun.
Losing a guy drafted 1st overall by Pittsburgh back in 2005 is a massive gut punch for this roster.
He's been elite this season with 54 points in 52 games while carrying that famous $8.7 million price tag.
But the games don't stop just because the legend is in the trainer's room.
Nathan MacKinnon hopped right onto the top line with Connor McDavid and it looked unfair.

MacKinnon and McDavid hold the fort

MacKinnon is a mountain of a man who went 1st overall in 2013 to Colorado.
He doesn't wait for the play to find him; he hunts it down and kills it.
He's already at 89 points this season and his $12.6 million salary looks like a steal when he plays like this.
And don't forget the kid, Macklin Celebrini, who's playing like a total dynamo on the big ice.
Nick Suzuki also showed he can help carry the load after he buried that big goal to keep them alive.
He’s got 59 points for Montreal this year and he's exactly the kind of 200-foot player Jon Cooper trusts.
The medical report on Thursday is going to decide if this team stays the favorite or starts to wobble.
Canada has the depth to survive, but playing for gold without #87 feels like trying to win a fight with one hand tied behind your back.
If the captain is done, it’s time to see whether Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Connor McDavid and the rest are ready to carry the entire nation on their shoulders.
